Wren – answers
- Troglodyte is Latin for a person who lives in a cave
- False! A wren’s song is loud and robust! It is reported to have the loudest song in proportion to it’s size.
- Wrens have a diet of insects and spiders.
- The correct answer is c. A wren’s brood will usually have around 5 to 8 eggs and they sometimes have two broods in a season. This large brood number helps the population recover. A particularly cold winter can decimate the species by around 25%.
- The male wren builds multiple nests, the female then chooses the one she likes the best.
