Treasure on the Reserve!
Easter Egg Hunt
Saturday 7th April
The weather stayed fine and lots of families came to Headley Down Nature Reserve at midday to search for eggs. The event was inspired by local garage Stonehill Automotives and the recent success and popularity of rock painting/finding.
To tie in with the Easter theme Stonehill Automotives painted 3 rocks which were put inside some of the 100+ plastic eggs hidden within the nature reserve. Those who were lucky enough to find the stones were rewarded with a Thorntons chocolate car. A £25 cash prize was also on offer and won by Charlotte Brown who lives nearby. Additional ‘chocolate’ prizes were kindly donated by Kye Anderson who runs Little Treasures Preschool at Woodlands Hall and all who took part received a small chocolate egg, lolly or raisins.
Everyone had a lovely time and many commented on the benefits the nature reserve is bringing to the local community, both young and old, and especially those using wheelchairs. It is however a great shame that the site has suffered from a spate of vandalism in recent weeks, including damage to wildlife boxes made by local residents. Despite this minor setback, we have many plans for the area and are pleased to announce that the all access path will soon be extended to join Maple Way.
